Catalog & Pricing in Public Sector

Use Catalog &Pricing to define and organize agency services, maintain standard and negotiated rates, and associate services with benefits and providers.

Public sector agencies maintain catalogs of the services that they authorize and fund. They also maintain standard rates and rates negotiated through provider contracts. Catalog & Pricing brings this information into Salesforce so that agency employees can use consistent service and pricing data when they administer benefits, validate invoices, adjudicate claims, and authorize payments.

Catalog & Pricing uses Product Catalog Management to represent services, organize them into catalogs, describe their attributes, and assign rates. Public Sector records associate those services with benefits and service providers.

How Catalog & Pricing Works

A service is stored as a product. A product catalog groups related services, and product categories organize services within the catalog. You can attribute definitions and classifications to provide reusable descriptions of service characteristics. Price books represent fee schedules, and price book entries associate services with their rates.

Provider Product and Benefit Product records connect catalog information to providers and benefits. Together, these records provide structured data for service delivery, claims, invoices, and payments.

For example, a healthcare agency can define:

  • Define a service: Create a counseling service, assign attributes that describe it, place it in a behavioral health category, and establish a standard rate.
  • Configure delivery and payment: Maintain a different contracted rate in a separate fee schedule, then associate the service with an eligible benefit and the provider that delivers it.
