Services
A service can participate in multiple catalogs, categories, price books, provider associations, and benefit associations. This reuse allows an agency maintain one service definition while organizing and pricing it in different business contexts.
Catalogs and Categories
A product catalog groups services. Categories and subcategories organize those services in a structure that reflects how agency employees find them. Keep the hierarchy as simple as the agency's navigation and reporting requirements allow, and create services before assigning them to categories.
Attributes and Classifications
Attribute definitions describe reusable service characteristics. Attribute categories group related attributes. Product classifications provide reusable attribute sets, and product attribute definitions assign attributes to individual services and can provide service-level values or overrides.
Use attributes for characteristics that administrators must manage consistently across services. Don't create an attribute for information that already has a dedicated field or relationship.
Fee Schedules and Rates
A price book represents a fee schedule. A price book entry links a service to a unit price in that schedule. Maintain separate price books when rates apply in different contexts, such as a standard agency schedule and a schedule associated with a provider contract.
Provider and Benefit Associations
A Provider Product record associates a healthcare provider with a product that represents a service. A Benefit Product record associates a benefit with a product that represents a service.
