Centralize the tracking of financial transactions for benefit programs, social
insurance, and provider management. Generate payment instructions from approved claims, payment
requests, and benefit disbursements, and reconcile completed transactions from your finance
system.
When your agency approves a claim, payment request, or benefit disbursement, the next step is
getting money to the recipient. Outbound Payments bridges that gap by generating payment
instructions that you send to your Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, and then
reconciling the completed transactions that your ERP returns. Any third-party payment to a
constituent, agency, contractor, or service provider is handled as an outbound payment.
Outbound Payments Workflow
At a high level, outbound payments follow this workflow.
A record-triggered flow generates a payment instruction when a claim or payment request
is approved, or when a benefit disbursement is created.
Payment instructions are sent to your ERP system through an integration that you
configure. The external ID from your ERP is stored in the payment instruction record's
Instruction Identifier field.
After your ERP completes the payment, the transaction details are sent back to
Salesforce.
The transaction details are stored as payment records and linked to the original payment
instruction, giving you end-to-end visibility into each disbursement.
Outbound Payments Prerequisites Enable settings, turn on related features, and assign permissions before you configure outbound payments.
Set Up Outbound Payments Complete these high-level steps to configure outbound payments for your agency.
Create Flows to Generate Payment Instructions Create a record-triggered flow that generates payment instructions when a claim, payment request, or benefit disbursement meets your criteria.
