What You Can Do With Automotive Cloud and Insurance Together

When both clouds are provisioned in the same org, the following business processes coexist on a shared data model:

  • Insurance product administration: Build and manage Digital Insurance 2.0 products, decision matrices, recipes, pricing procedures, and insurance contexts alongside Automotive product catalogs.
  • Policy administration: Quote, issue, modify, renew, and cancel Automotive insurance policies that reference vehicle assets owned by your Automotive Cloud customers.
  • Automotive claims: Process vehicle warranty and damage claims through the Automotive claim lifecycle, including coverage adjudication and payment.
  • Warranty claims: Validate warranty eligibility, adjudicate, and issue payments for claims tied to a vehicle or asset.
  • Insurance claims: Create insurance claims against a policy whose insured asset is a vehicle, and generate Claim Coverage and Claim Coverage Payment Detail records.
  • Mixed-coverage scenarios: Process claims for vehicles that are simultaneously covered by an Automotive Cloud warranty and an active insurance policy.

How the Data Models Connect

Automotive Cloud and Insurance with Digital Insurance 2.0 share the standard Asset object as the integration point.

  • Each Vehicle record has a 1:1 lookup to an Asset record.
  • The Asset record is the insured object referenced by the insurance Quote and resulting Insurance Policy.
  • Insurance Policy Asset records connect issued policies back to the same Asset, which in turn maps back to the Vehicle.
  • Claim records reference the Asset, so a single vehicle can carry both warranty claims and insurance claims through its lifecycle.

Note: Make sure to define the Asset Record Name attribute on your Automotive insurance product classification that uses Asset as the reference object and Id as the reference field. Configure the attribute as a lookup so quote and policy users can select the insured vehicle's Asset record at runtime.

Modify, Renew, and Cancel a Policy

From the Insurance Policy record, you can:

  • Modify policy: Reprice and rewrite the policy with updated quote details for a new effective period.
  • Reprice and renew: Generate a renewal policy with a new policy number, name, and effective dates. The renewed policy retains its reference to the original policy.
  • Cancel policy: Cancel the policy by entering an effective cancellation date to get the refund details for premium, fee, and tax.

The Policy detail page shows policy structure, policy line items by coverage, with effective dates and premium totals at every level.
