          Create Accounting Periods

          Create accounting periods to organize and store financial information for specific time frames. For example, if your company tracks performance quarterly, define quarterly accounting periods.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
          Available in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with the Revenue Cloud Advanced license or the Revenue Cloud Billing license
          User Permissions Needed
          To create accounting periods: Accounts Receivables Admin permission set

          Accounting periods can be created for a month for internal reporting, and consolidated for a quarter, a half-year, or a year for external reporting.

          1. From the App Launcher, find and select Accounting Periods.
          2. Click New.
          3. Specify a start date and an end date for the accounting period.
            You can't create accounting periods that are longer than a year, or with start and end dates of an existing accounting period.
          4. Specify the financial period in which the accounting period falls.
            For example, if the accounting period is for the fiscal year of 2027, enter FY 2027.
          5. Select Open as the Status.
            When you create accounting periods, the status can only be set to Open.
          6. Save your work.

          The name of the accounting period is automatically generated, combining the specified financial year, start date, and end date.

          Note
          Note You can't edit or delete accounting periods that have related legal entity accounting periods.
