Manage Expression Sets
Learn how to clone an expression set, open an expression set version in the builder, and deactivate an expression set version.

- Clone an Expression Set
To copy an expression set along with all its versions, use the Clone option on the record detail page of an expression set. When you clone an expression set, all the cloned versions are in an inactive state. - Open an Expression Set Version in Expression Set Builder
Open an expression set version in Expression Set Builder to view the version steps, modify the configuration, or simulate the version to test whether the version steps work as expected. You can modify only inactive expression set versions. - Save an Expression Set Version in Expression Set Builder
Save an expression set version within a new expression set or as a new version within the existing expression set. This allows you to make updates without cloning the entire set and its versions, and customize the name and version number for easier identification. - Deactivate an Expression Set Version
Active expression set versions can’t be edited. To edit an expression set version, deactivate the version first.
Clone an Expression Set
To copy an expression set along with all its versions, use the Clone option on the record detail page of an expression set. When you clone an expression set, all the cloned versions are in an inactive state.

Click
, and then find
and select Business Rules Engine.
- Click the app navigation menu, and then select Expression Sets.
- Select an expression set from the list.
- On the record detail page of the selected expression set, click Clone.

To prevent naming conflict, enter a unique name for the cloned expression set.
Warning To retain the object field aliases or business elements associated with the expression set's usage type, don't change the usage type while cloning the expression set. - Save the expression set.
Open an Expression Set Version in Expression Set Builder
Open an expression set version in Expression Set Builder to view the version steps, modify the configuration, or simulate the version to test whether the version steps work as expected. You can modify only inactive expression set versions.

and select Business Rules Engine.
- Click the app navigation menu, and then select Expression Sets.
- Select an expression set from the list.

On the Details tab, in the Expression Set Versions area, select the version.
The version opens in the expression set builder.
Save an Expression Set Version in Expression Set Builder
Save an expression set version within a new expression set or as a new version within the existing expression set. This allows you to make updates without cloning the entire set and its versions, and customize the name and version number for easier identification.

- Click the app navigation menu, and then select Expression Sets.
- Select an expression set from the list.

On the Details tab, in the Expression Set Versions area, select the version.
The version opens in the expression set builder.

Click Save As.
You can either save the version in a new expression set or as a new version in the current expression set.

To save the selected version in a new expression set, click New Expression
Set.
- Enter the expression set name.
- Select the context definition.
- Enter the rank and select the activate checkbox.

Save the selected expression set version in the new expression set.
The expression set version is now ready to be invoked.
- To make changes, deactivate the expression set version, make the desired changes, and activate it again.

To save the selected version as a new version in the same expression set, click
New Expression Set Version.
- Enter the expression set version name.
- Enter the expression set version number.
- Save the new expression set version in the current expression set.
- Make the desired changes in the expression set version and activate it.
Deactivate an Expression Set Version
Active expression set versions can’t be edited. To edit an expression set version, deactivate the version first.
- From the app navigation menu of Business Rules Engine, select Expression Sets.
- From the expression set list, click the expression set that has the version that you want to deactivate.

On the Details tab, in the Expression Set Versions area, select the version.
The version opens in the expression set builder.
- Click Deactivate.
