Industries CPQ provides a flexible API for cloning records that can invoke via the
Developer Console, remote actions, or Agentforce flows. While it shares the core engine with
ESM, it is designed to be customizable for various Industries CPQ data structures.
Required Editions
Available in: Classic and Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions
for CME Managed Package
Key capabilities include:
Clone to Existing Targets: Use the optional targetRecordId parameter to clone related
records (such as line items) from a source quote directly into an existing, empty target
quote.
Customize Field Values: Use targetFieldUpdates to specify unique values for the cloned
record. If no update is provided, the cloned record retains the original name.
Automatic Pricing: Set the runPricing and runValidation parameters to true to trigger
pricing logic and product validation rules immediately after the clone is created.
Note The
Clone API is available to all Communications Cloud managed package customers through
Invocable Apex Actions and Integration Procedures. For complete configuration steps,
execution modes, JSON examples, and implementation guidance, see Configure the Deep Clone API in Enterprise Sales
Management (Managed Package).
Example Use Case: Deep Cloning a Quote with
Price Updates
A customer requests a quote for the same set of products they ordered last
year, but the sales rep needs the new quote to reflect current pricing and have a unique
identifier.
The rep initiates a clone by using the Sync mode for a quick turnaround.
They use the target field updates parameter to rename the quote to "2026 Renewal - [Customer
Name]" and set run pricing and validation to true to ensure the new quote reflects the
latest catalog prices automatically.
