          Modify Assets in Bulk

As a purchase manager, you can modify a large number of assets with the bulk-change flow in the portal. In the bulk-change flow, when you select assets, they’re auto-grouped into asset groups based on the asset name. When you modify an asset group, you update every asset in that group.

For example, you can select four assets named “Business Internet Pro” that belong to four different service accounts. Then an asset group called “Business Internet Pro” is created. If you modify the asset group “Business Internet Pro”, then this modification applies to all four assets belonging to the asset group.

          1. On the home page, click Go to Assets or click the Assets tab.
            1. Set the view of the Asset Viewer page by using the View by dropdown menu.
By default, assets purchased recently appear first. To modify all assets belonging to a specific billing account, select Billing Account, so you can easily view and select them. Similarly, you can select Service Account. If you want to modify all assets with the same name, then select Name.
            2. Select the assets that you want to modify, and then click Change to Order.
              Note
Note You can use the Search bar to search assets by name, service account, or billing account.
          2. Enter the Order Name, and select the Order Start Date.
            1. Select Bulk, and click Next.
This step launches the bulk-change flow and groups assets into Asset Groups.
For example, if you selected four assets named “Business Internet Pro” and three assets named “Business Internet Enhanced”, then the flow creates two asset groups named after the assets.

If you modify an asset group, then this modification applies to all assets belonging to the asset group.

          3. On the Configure Assets page, select an asset group, and then expand its dropdown menu to select the type of modification you want to make at the (parent) asset level.
Modification Type for the Parent Asset Effect
No Change Doesn’t modify the parent asset attributes. You can modify the individual child assets by selecting the required modification type in the child asset’s dropdown menu.
Bulk Delete Deletes the asset. For bundles, it deletes all child assets belonging to the parent asset.
Bulk Update Allows you to update asset attributes. You can modify the individual child assets by selecting the required modification type in the child asset’s dropdown menu.
            1. Click the chevron icon chevron icon for the asset to show asset attributes and child assets if any.
            2. To modify an asset attribute, enable the attribute’s toggle button, and select the required value.
