Preserve Original Asset Prices for MACD in Enterprise Sales Management

Preserve Original Asset Prices for MACD in Enterprise Sales Management

Retain the original negotiated price of an asset during Move, Add, Change, and Delete (MACD) operations in Enterprise Sales Management (ESM).

          Required Editions

Managed Package Icon This feature is part of the Communications Cloud managed package.

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions, where Standard Cart APIs are enabled.

To maintain performance across large multi-site quotes, ESM restricts repricing triggers via Industries CPQ. The calculation engine triggers only when you modify price-impacting attributes. Editing non-pricing attributes doesn’t impact the asset price or trigger a recalculation.

Industries CPQ uses Attribute-Based Pricing to determine if a change triggers a price recalculation.

          • Retain Price – If an attribute isn't defined in the pricing matrix, Industries CPQ treats it as non-price impacting, and preserves the original asset price, including manual overrides.
          • Trigger Recalculation – If a specific Product/Attribute combination is defined in the matrix, Industries CPQ recalculates the price based on the new value.

For example, a sales rep manages a contract for Business Internet.

          • The rep changes the installation date. Because this is a non-pricing attribute omitted from the calculation matrix, the negotiated price of $50 remains the same.
          • The rep changes the bandwidth from 100 Mbps to 500 Mbps. Because this is a price-impacting attribute in the calculation matrix, the system recalculates the price to the current catalog rate of $90.

Exclusively with Classic APIs, ESM maintains fixed asset prices during MACD when Action__c is set to Existing. This setting prevents automatic repricing and ensures consistent totals; however, updating the action to Change triggers standard repricing. See Maintain Asset Price during MACD Operations.
