The Retain Asset Price feature allows sales reps to preserve a customer’s original
pricing and discounts during MACD operations. This implementation bypasses the default catalog
repricing, makes sure that "non-price impacting" modifications don't trigger unexpected price
increases for the existing assets.
Required Editions
Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer
Edition.
Note The new CPQ configuration controls the Retain Asset Price feature to avoid merging it
with the Maintain Asset Price feature. Turn on the
RetainAssetPriceOnNonPriceUpdate setting, under the CPQ Configuration
Setup.
Ensure to have the MaintainPrice feature and the Attribute-Based Pricing (ABP) attributes
from the Attribute-Based Pricing Matrix to identify the price-impacting attributes. We reuse
the existing PricingPlan class and its associated strategies.
During MACD operations, this feature skips repricing for "Existing" or "Changed" line items
if no price-related modifications occur. It preserves the original base price and custom MRC
discounts, protecting unintended cost increases during minor modifications.
This feature maintains consistent rates during plan modifications—like updating installation
dates—while safeguarding negotiated discounts to prevent revenue leakage. It ensures total
consistency between the original contract and the modified order, significantly reducing
billing disputes. By ensuring total consistency between the original contract and the modified
order, the implementation significantly reduces billing disputes and strengthens customer
trust.
