Complete this setup before you create Relies On rules.

  1. Update the context definition to the ConsumerSalesContext context definition.
  2. Turn on the Relies On Rule for Linear Relationships feature.
    1. From Setup, go to Revenue Cloud for Communications, and then go to Revenue Cloud for Communications Settings.
    2. Turn on the Relies On Rule for Linear Relationships feature.
  3. Add the Sales Transaction Line Editor component to your quote and order pages.
    Note
Note Add the Sales Transaction Line Editor to both the quote and order record pages.
    1. Open the quote or order record page.
    2. From the Setup gear, select Edit Page.
    3. In Lightning App Builder, add the Sales Transaction Line Editor.
    4. Save and activate the page.
  4. Add the Manage Asset viewer component to your account pages.
    1. Open the account record in Lightning App Builder.
    2. Drag the Manage Asset viewer component onto the Assets tab.
    3. Save and activate the page.

Create a Relies On Rule

Define a Relies On rule to link a source product or product classification to its related product or product classifications across quotes, orders, and assets.

Note
Note A source product supports one active Relies On rule at a time. A related product can't rely on a source product that already relies on it.
  1. In Product Catalog Management, select Linear Relationship Rules.
The recently created rules and all rules appear.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the rule name.
  4. Select a product or product classification for the source.
  5. Select a product or product classification for the related product.
  6. Enter the forward cardinality.
    1. Set the minimum to 0 for an optional relationship.
    2. Set the minimum to 1 or higher for a mandatory relationship.
    3. Set the maximum to a value greater than or equal to the minimum. The highest value allowed is 10.
  7. Enter the optional effective start and end dates.
  8. To make the rule active, select Active.
New rules are inactive by default.
  9. Save your changes.
    Note
Note A Relationship Code is generated automatically and is read-only.

Edit a Relies On Rule

Update a Relies On rule when a product dependency changes.

Rule changes apply only to new relationships. The existing quote, order, and asset line items keep the rule version that was in effect when they were linked. You can't edit a rule that's associated with active assets.

Note
Note You can edit a rule only when it isn't in use by any active asset. If any active asset uses the rule, the Edit action is blocked. Resolve the dependent assets before you edit the rule.
  1. In Product Catalog Management, go to the Linear Relationship Rules list.
  2. Open the rule to update.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Update the necessary information.
  5. Save your changes.

Delete a Relies On Rule

Remove a Relies On rule when the product dependency no longer applies.

Note
Note You can delete a rule only when it isn't in use by any active asset. If any active asset uses the rule, the delete action is blocked. Resolve the dependent assets before you delete the rule.
  1. In Product Catalog Management, go to the Linear Relationship Rules list.
  2. Open the rule to remove.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. Confirm the deletion.
