Update the Custom Metadata for Your Product Model (Managed Package)

Update the Custom Metadata for Your Product Model (Managed Package)

To enable the abstraction framework to access your product model, the custom metadata corresponding to your product model must be made available in your org. You can make your custom metadata available in your org in various ways.

Managed Package Icon This feature is part of the Communications Cloud managed package.

If you want to make a few changes to the existing custom metadata, you can update the metadata directly.

If you want to update metadata for a large number of records, enter all the custom metadata into a spreadsheet using this template. When you are done entering or updating your metadata, use a custom metadata loading tool to upload the custom metadata into your org. If you don't already have such a tool in your org, you can select and install an appropriate tool from App Exchange.

  1. Go to Setup.
  2. In Quick Find, enter Custom Metadata and click Custom Metadata Types.
  3. Go to VPLAbstractionLayerSetup and click Manage Records.

This page shows a long list of custom metadata records. Not all the records listed here are used by Multiplay Subscription Management. Also, many of these custom metadata records are part of the managed package and can't be updated directly.

  4. Update the custom metadata records as required.

Custom metadata records that aren't part of the managed package can be deleted, so these are the records that display a Del option. When in doubt, just click the name of the record. For records that are part of the managed package, on the record detail page, a banner is displayed informing you that this is a managed record. When no such banner is displayed, the record isn't part of the managed package and can be updated directly.

  5. To update custom metadata records that are part of the managed package:
    1. Click the record that you want to edit.
    2. Click Clone.
    3. A new record is created and you can edit the fields. You must update the IntegrationKey value to ensure that it is unique. Make any other changes, as required, and then click Save.
  6. To update custom metadata records that aren't part of the managed package, you can simply edit them as needed.
