Create Source Field Aliases

Create Source Field Aliases

You can use only object fields that have field aliases as variables in expression sets. Create field aliases from Setup. When you create a field alias, you can group the alias under an existing object alias, or create an object alias and then add the field alias.

Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions for clouds that have Business Rules Engine enabled
User Permissions Needed
To create a field alias: System Administrator
To add a field alias as a variable in an expression set: Rules Engine Designer
To run an expression set that uses field aliases as variables: Rules Engine Runtime
  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Business Rules Engine, and then select Business Rules Engine.
  2. Under Business Rules Engine, select Object and Field Aliases.
  3. Click New.
  4. Select a usage type.
  5. Create a field alias for the field:
    • If the object has an object alias:
      1. Select Existing Object Alias.
      2. Select an object alias.
      3. For Source Field Name, select a field from the source object.

        Specify up to five levels of objects with the last value as an object field.

      4. Enter a field alias for the selected field.
    • If the object doesn't have an object alias:
      1. Select New Object Alias.
      2. Enter an alias for the object.
      3. For Source Field Name, from the source object for which you just defined the alias, select the field.

        Specify up to five levels of objects with the last value as an object field.

      4. Enter a field alias for the selected field.
  6. Save your changes.
