Create work type code set bundles if:
- You use Salesforce Scheduler as your scheduling system for booking appointments.
- Your external scheduling system uses codes for service types, appointment types, service categories, or other data. Before you create the work type code set bundles, create a code set and a code set bundle for each type of data.
- You specify a flow to trigger when a specific work type is selected.
Standardization of definitions and concepts is essential in healthcare, which is why we have code sets and code set bundles. A code set is system-defined code that represents a concept in the context of its system. A code set bundle is a collection of code sets across different systems and versions that all represent the same real-world concept.
Work type code set bundles capture visit type details, including scheduling system, service provided, and any visit type custom flows. For example, an appointment for an endoscopy procedure booked through an external scheduling system is represented with codes that indicate the appointment type, and the service type and category. The procedure requires a patient to keep their stomach empty for four to eight hours beforehand and avoid certain medications in the preceding week. You can create a custom screen flow that lists the visit requirements and configure it for the endoscopy visit type using the Flow Name field. During a patient call, when your user selects endoscopy as the visit type, the procedure requirements are displayed and your user can share the details with the patient.
- In the App Launcher, find and select Work Type Code Set Bundles.
- Select New.
- Enter a name for your Work Type Code Set Bundle record. For example, Physiotherapy.
- For Parent, specify the visit type for which you're choosing a scheduling system.
-
For Scheduling System, specify whether the availability data for
this visit type is in Salesforce Scheduler or an external system.
- To specify Salesforce Scheduler, select Salesforce.
- To specify an external EHR system, select External.

-
If you selected an external scheduling system, specify the appointment type, service
type, and service category. Select the code set bundle you created for each type of
data.
The appointment type corresponds to a visit type, which is the reason for a visit.
- To trigger a flow when the specified visit type is selected, enter the name of the flow.
- Save your changes.
