Configure Settings Before Using Data Cloud for Energy and Utilities Cloud

Before you use the Energy and Utilities data kit and the Energy and Utilities Cloud data model objects, complete the basic setup required to work in Data Cloud. You must set up Data Cloud, enable the required Energy and Utilities Cloud features, connect Data Cloud to your Salesforce CRM org, and configure the security permissions.

1. Review and complete all the steps mentioned in the Salesforce Data Cloud documentation.
   1. Plan your Data Cloud Strategy.
   2. Manage Data Cloud Users.
   3. Manage Access with Data Cloud Permission Sets.
   4. Manage Data Spaces.
   5. Set Up the Salesforce CRM Connector.
2. Enable the features required to access the data kit and its components.
   1. Go to Data Cloud Setup.
      If you don’t see this option, refresh your page, or log out and log back in with your admin user credentials.
   2. To enable Data Cloud, click Get Started.
      Setup can take a few minutes.
   3. Turn on Energy and Utilities Cloud features as required.
      You must enable the features that allow access on all objects used for calculated insights.
3. Connect Data Cloud to your Salesforce CRM org.
   1. In Data Cloud, click Data Cloud Setup.
   2. In the Quick Find box, enter Salesforce CRM, then click Salesforce CRM.
   3. Click New.
   4. To connect to the Salesforce org that has Data Cloud provisioned, click Connect.
   5. After you connect your Salesforce org, review the connection details.
      Your Salesforce org is now connected as a data source and data action target.
4. Verify the SSOT package version.
   1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Installed Packages, then select Installed Packages.
   2. Verify that the Salesforce Standard Data Model SSOT is version 1.85 or later.
      If the version is earlier than 1.29, contact your Salesforce account representative.
5. Set up object and field permissions
   1. Log in to the Salesforce org that contains the objects and fields that you want to ingest into Data Cloud.
   2. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Permission Sets, and then select Permission Sets.
   3. Find and select Data Cloud Salesforce Connector Integration.
   4. Click System Permissions.
   5. Click Edit.
   6. Find and select the required Energy and Utilities Cloud system permissions.
      You must enable the system permissions that allow access on all objects used for calculated insights.
   7. Save your changes.
   8. Click Permission Set Overview.
   9. Click Object Settings.
   10. Click on the name of the object for which you want to give access.
   11. Click Edit.
   12. In Object Permissions, enable Read and View All permissions.
   13. In Field Permissions, enable Read Access for each field.
   14. Save your changes.
   15. Complete these steps for all Energy and Utilities Cloud objects and objects that are used in the predefined calculated insights.
