Here are some of the considerations for using standard applications:
-
Standard applications use an enhanced data model. You can’t use the managed package data model and the enhanced data model at the same time. There is no migration process between the two data models.
-
If you already have the managed package applications, you must migrate data, processes, and UI components to the enhanced data model in order to use standard applications. Standard applications don’t use data already defined in custom objects in your org.
-
Standard applications may not work as expected with CME managed package components, including Industries EPC, CPQ, and Order Management.
-
Standard applications work only on orgs that use Standard Omnistudio Content and Runtime. To know more, see Communications, Media, and Energy (CME) Support for OmniStudio Standard Runtime
-
A Learning Trial org for standard applications is separately available from that for managed package applications. This trial org may have different sample data from what you see in the managed package application.
Using standard applications provides these opportunities:
-
Greater flexibility and capability to consume features from other Salesforce clouds such as Einstein and Data Cloud.
-
No need to install, configure, or maintain the CME managed package.
-
Improved performance.
-
Easier and faster deployment of apps using standard Salesforce tools and processes.
