Considerations and Limitations for Interest Tags

When setting up and working with Interest Tags, be aware of these considerations and limitations.

If you use interest tags, we recommend not using topics to avoid confusion when assigning interest tags to records.
You don’t need to enable Chatter to enable Topics.
You can’t add custom actions to the Interest Tags page layout.
You can’t add additional fields to the Interest Tags object.
We suggest keeping interest tags to three words or less for readability and usability.
You can have more than one level 1 Tag Category.
A single record can have up to 100 interest tags assigned.
An interest tag can have up to 99 characters.
Deleting an interest tag deletes the record and all tag assignments to records.
The Interest Tags object doesn’t appear in Object Manager because it’s a virtual object built on the Topic object.
Only record types of categories that the user has been granted access to appear in the interest tag record component.
The custom report type for interest tags doesn't support polymorphic fields. In the report, you can include only the KeyPrefix and Name fields for the objects.
You can create a maximum of 200 interest tags and tag assignments per Connect API call.
