Create Document Types

Create Document Types

Create document types for each type of document that you want to extract information from. For example, if you want to extract information from identity documents, create a document type that can be used for all identity documents.

Intelligent Document Reader is available with the Intelligent Document Reader add-on license.
User Permissions Needed
To create document types: Customize Application
  1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Document Type, and then select Document Type.
  2. Click New Document Type.
  3. Enter a label and API name for the document type.
    The API name is automatically filled based on the label and can be customized. Ensure that each document type has a unique API name.
  4. Ensure that the Is Active checkbox is selected.
  5. Enter a description for the document type.
  6. If you’re creating a document type for identity documents, select Identity Document as the form type.
    Note
    Note After you create a document type with a form type, you can’t change the form type.
  7. Save your changes.
    You can also create document types within Intelligent Document Reader.
    1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Intelligent Document Reader, and then select Intelligent Document Reader.
    2. In the Global Content Extraction Settings section, click Edit Settings.
    3. Select the Document Type tab.
    4. Click New Document Type.
    5. Enter a name, select the Form Type, and add a description for the document type.
      If queries are enabled, add your queries for the document type.
    6. Save your changes.
      The Edit Global Content Extraction Settings page opens.
    7. Click Save.
