          Institution Doctor Accounts

          Recording interactions with healthcare professionals (HCPs) at the specific healthcare organization (HCO) level is a best practice followed in countries like Japan. The Institution Doctor (Ins Doc) Accounts feature helps you do just that. When you set up the feature, Salesforce creates Ins Doc accounts that represent the specific relationship of an HCP practicing at a particular institution. Reps can capture all activities, including visits, inquiries, and insights, within the Ins Doc account context.

          Considerations for Ins Doc Accounts

          • You can turn off creating Ins Doc accounts manually only in the search before create component. However, you can create Ins Doc accounts manually by using other options such as the Accounts tab.
            Tip
            Tip When you create an Ins Doc account manually, make sure that you associate it with a Provider Affiliation record. Also, because Ins Doc accounts are non-person accounts, create Ins Doc record type only for Account and Healthcare Provider objects.
          • You can't search for an Ins Doc account by using Account Advanced Search, either on the web or on mobile devices.
          • We don't validate updates to Ins Doc accounts on mobile devices.
            Tip
            Tip Configure page layouts for the Ins Doc record type to make the restricted fields as read only.
          • We don't recommend configuring Date Change requests for the Ins Doc record type.
          • We don't ship any Ins Doc—specific quick actions. You can configure quick actions based on your business requirements.

            Before ​you set up Activity Plans in Life Sciences Cloud, make sure that you have the required user profiles, licenses, and permission sets.​

            Prepare your org by activating the Institution Doctor accounts feature, configuring related lists for accounts and HCPs, and cloning out-of-the-box flows.

            After setting up Ins Doc account feature, record your interactions with HCPs with the context with an HCO. Ins Doc accounts are available both on the web and on mobile devices.
