Create Lightning Apps for Life Sciences Cloud

Create Lightning Apps for Life Sciences Cloud

Help your field users work more efficiently by creating Lightning apps that are customized to specific user profiles in your Salesforce org.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Life Sciences Cloud, Life Sciences Cloud for Customer Engagement Add-on license, and the Life Sciences Customer Engagement managed package.
          User Permissions Needed
To create Lightning apps: Life Sciences Commercial Admin permission set
To view apps: View Setup and Configuration
To manage apps: Modify All Data

Profiles define how users access objects and data, and determine the actions they can perform while using the app. Create user profiles for each persona and assign users accordingly. See Create Custom Profiles for Customer Engagement Users.

Create a Lightning App Using the App Manager

Use App Manager to create multiple Lightning Apps for specific user profiles as needed. For example, it includes standard Salesforce profiles or custom profiles you create.

          1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, find and select App Manager.
          2. Click New Lightning App.
          3. Move Health Cloud Starter.
          4. Enter the name of the app.
The API name is automatically populated.
          5. If necessary, enter a description.
The app description displays alongside the icon in the App Launcher. Make sure that the description is meaningful to your users.
          6. For the App’s branding, if necessary, set its primary color and add a logo.
          7. Click Next.
          8. In the Add Options section.
            1. Select the type of navigation as Standard.

This field supports: Standard and Console.

              Note
Note Standard navigation doesn’t support the Tabs component on the home page. Console navigation isn’t supported in the Life Sciences Cloud Mobile app.
            2. Select which form factors your app is available for: Desktop and Phone, Desktop, or Phone.
            3. If necessary, select which Setup experience to show as the first item in the Setup menu for this app.
              • Disable end user personalization of nav items in this app
              • Disable temporary tabs for items outside of this app
              • Use Omni-Channel sidebar
          9. In the Utility Items section, give your users quick access to productivity tools and add background utility items to your app.
            1. Click Add Utility Item.
            2. Search for and select Territory Switcher, and then click Next.
          10. In the Navigation Items section, select the items you want to include in the app, then click Next.
            • LSC4CE Accounts (mandatory for Territory Switcher)
            • LSC4CE Calendar (recommended)
            • Intelligent Content (recommended)
            • Visits (recommended)
            • Add persona-specific items (for example, Account Plans for KAMs)
          11. Select the user profile that can access this app.
          12. Save your changes.
Similarly, you can create multiple Lightning apps and assign these apps to specific user profiles in your Salesforce org.

Configure Page Layouts Using the Lightning App Builder

Use the Lightning App Builder to customize page layouts (Home or Record Pages) that enable field-level customization for different profiles.

          1. From Setup, in the Quick Find Box, find and select Lightning App Builder.
          2. Click New.
          3. Select the page type, then click Next.
For example, Home Page or Record Page. If you select Home Page, set the custom home page as both App and Profile default. Setting App default only may not cause the org default to override your selection.
          4. Enter a label, and click Next.
The label can be up to 80 characters.
          5. Select a page template and click Done.
          6. Drag the components that you want onto the page.
          7. Click each component on the page to configure its properties.
          8. Save your changes.
          9. Assign and activate app pages as needed by the user profile.
          10. Generate a metadata cache.
