Sync your configuration changes to the Life Sciences Cloud Mobile app by generating a
metadata cache. This generated metadata cache includes object schemas and metadata definitions
that the mobile app stores locally to support both online and offline modes. Generate a new
metadata cache whenever you update Lightning record pages, page layouts, object or schema changes,
new or modified feature settings, or permission updates.
Required Editions
Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Life
Sciences Cloud, Life Sciences Cloud for Customer Engagement Add-on license, and the
Life Sciences Customer Engagement managed package.
User Permissions Needed
To generate metadata cache:
Life Sciences Commercial Admin permission set
To receive notifications when a metadata cache is generated, complete these steps before
generating the cache.
Enable Read Access for the Metadata Generated platform event.
Activate the Metadata Active trigger handler.
From the App Launcher, find and select the Life Sciences Commercial
app.
Click Admin Console.
Select Mobile and then select Metadata
Cache.
Click Create New Cache.
Note If you have the Skip Validations before Metadata Generation system permission, an option to
skip the validation step is available when creating a new cache. When you enable this option,
the validation step for the object metadata cache is skipped. Assign this system permission to
permission sets that are assigned the Life Sciences Commercial permission set license.
Select a profile for which you want to generate the metadata cache.
If you don’t select a profile, the metadata is generated for all the profiles in your
org.
When you create a new cache, the number of records generated equals the number of profiles
selected, plus one additional parent record for the entire cache with a blank profile.
Select the date by which the mobile app users must update the metadata.
Users can’t postpone the update after this date.
Select the date on which the mobile app users are notified about the new metadata.
Users see these alerts only if notifications for new metadata are enabled.
Save your changes.
An entry with the status Validating is added to the metadata cache list. You receive
a notification after the metadata cache is generated.
Refresh your browser to check whether the metadata cache is validated. If the validation is
successful, the status progresses through Published, In Progress, and Active.
