Pricing Elements
Pricing elements are the fundamental building blocks used to construct a pricing procedure. Use these elements to define how Salesforce calculates and applies prices for quoted orders.

| Available in: Lightning Experience |
| Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Life Sciences Cloud, Life Sciences Cloud for Customer Engagement Add-on license, and the Life Sciences Customer Engagement managed package. |
Important You can use these pricing elements in any combination of your
choice, except Pricing Setting. Pricing setting is the initial element required for
any pricing procedure you configure.
To help field reps give manual discounts and free goods from the Quotes page, configure the relevant pricing elements, such as Manual Line Discount or Header-Level Discount Distribution, before adding them to the Quote Line Items page. See Personalize User Experience.
| Pricing Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Pricing Setting | Serves as the initial element for any pricing procedure. They're used to map common variables in a pricing procedure to context tags. See Pricing Setting. |
| List Price | The base price of a product as defined in the active price book. It's the starting point of every pricing calculation. All discounts and adjustments are applied on top of it. See Fetch the List Price of a Product. |
| Volume Discount | A flat percentage discount applied when the ordered quantity meets or exceeds a configured threshold. The same rate applies to the entire quantity after order quantity crosses the threshold. See Volume and Tier Based Discounts. |
| Volume Tier Discount | A quantity-based discount where different rates apply to different quantity bands. Units in each tier get the rate for that tier. For example, units 1–10 at 5% off, units 11–20 at 10% off. See Volume and Tier Based Discounts. |
| Formula-Based | A calculation element that evaluates a user-defined expression at pricing time. Use this element to configure pricing procedures for free goods. See Build Pricing Rules with Formula-Based Pricing. |
| Header-Level Discount Distribution | Distributes a discount entered at the quote header level proportionally across individual line items. Uses the Discount Distribution service. A field rep can apply an order-level discount without setting each line manually. See Discount Distribution Service. |
| Manual Line Discount | A discount entered directly by a field rep on a specific quote line item, as either a percentage or a flat amount. To support both modes in the same procedure, include List Group and List Operation elements. These elements determines the adjustment type at run time. See Manually Discount Product Prices. |
| List Group and List Operation | Structural elements that group lines and apply list-level operations across them. List Group organizes lines into a set. List Operation performs a calculation or selection across that set. Used together, they support scenarios like determining whether a manual discount is a percentage or a flat amount, or applying a consistent rule across a group of products. See List Group and List Operation. |
| Assignment | Copies a calculated or static value from one context field to another within the pricing procedure. Used to pass an intermediate result, such as a computed discount rate, into the field the pricing engine uses for its final output. See Map Context Tag Data Using Assignment Element. |
| Price Adjustment Matrix (PAM) | Applies condition-based discounts using decision tables. Each table maps a combination of product and customer attributes, such as Brand, Product Category, and Customer Tier, to a discount value. The pricing engine evaluates a field rep's quote against the table at run time and applies the matching discount. Requires the SalesTransactionContext to be extended with the relevant attribute tags before it can evaluate them. See Dynamic Pricing With Price Adjustment Matrix. |
