          Configure DEA License Validation

          Configure Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license validation to verify that healthcare professionals can compliantly receive controlled substances.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
          Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Life Sciences Cloud, Life Sciences Cloud for Customer Engagement Add-on license, and the Life Sciences Customer Engagement managed package.
          User Permissions Needed
          Create and manage business license records, product data, and custom labels: Customize Application
          Access the Admin Console to enable license validation and generate the metadata cache: Life Sciences Commercial Admin permission set

          Ensure that the following data is set up:

          • Business License records for your accounts with Compliance Scope set to Address, the correct Contact Point Address, and a License Number.
          • Controlled substance products marked with IsControlledSubstance as True in the LifeSciMarketableProduct object.
          1. From the App Launcher, find and select Life Sciences Commercial, and then click Admin Console | License Management.
          2. Enable DEA license validation.

            A license is valid if a record matches the account's selected contact point address and the validation formula evaluates to true.

            Licenses are validated during signature capture, document ID capture, or visit submission.

          3. Optional: To rename the DEA label:
            1. From Setup, search for and select Custom Labels.
            2. Locate the label for DEA licenses, click the label name, and click New Local Translations/Overrides to define a new value.
          4. Generate the metadata cache. See Generate Metadata Cache.
