Configure Sample Disbursement
Configure sample disbursement so field reps can record physical samples provided to health care professionals during visits.

| Access the Admin Console to configure sample settings and activate trigger handlers: | Life Sciences Commercial Admin permission set |
- Set up sample products in Product2 and LifeSciMarketableProduct with an allowed distribution method of Drop or Drop and Ship.
- Set up inventory with ProductItem records.
- If managing batches, set up ProductionBatch and ProductBatchItem records.
- From the object management settings for visits, go to Page Layouts.

Add the Product Disbursements related list to the visit page layout and the visit record page layout.
Adding the related list to the visit page layout enables the Samples sidebar menu.
- From the App Launcher, find and select Life Sciences Commercial, and then click Admin Console | Visit Administration | Visit Settings | Samples and Items Settings.
- In HCO Types Allowed for Samples and Items, enter the API names of business account record types eligible to receive samples, separated by semicolons.
- Enable Require batch number and Show expired batches based on your business requirements.
- From the App Launcher, find and select Life Sciences Commercial, and then click Admin Console | Trigger Handler Administration.

Activate these trigger handlers: ProductDisbursementInventoryOpCreation and ProductDisbursementSubmitLockHandler.
Object lock handlers apply only to the desktop site. For the mobile app, this logic is built in.
