CSV Header Files for Targeting Data Migration

CSV Header Files for Targeting Data Migration

Migrate your targeting data into Media Cloud by using two Data Processing Engine templates that handle the end-to-end setup of your targeting hierarchy. The first template, Create Media Targeting Categories, Segments And Values, imports your foundational targeting data by creating Ad Target Category, Ad Target Category Segment, and Ad Target Segment Value records from a single CSV file. When your targeting records exist in the org, the second template, Map Targeting With Product, Classification And Media Type, associates those records with your products, product classifications, and media types by creating Ad Available Target Segment, Ad Available Target Segment Value, and Ad Product Default Target Value records. Together, these templates eliminate the need for manual record creation and reduce the time required to set up complex targeting configurations for your media catalog.

Important
Important To upload targeting data by using the Data Processing Engine template, match the expected CSV header format exactly. Deviations in spelling, casing, or order cause the upload to fail.

Use the Create Targeting Data template to import targeting categories, segments, and segment values in a single operation. Each row in the CSV file can create up to three records: one Ad Target Category, one Ad Target Category Segment, and one Ad Target Segment Value. The Data Processing Engine determines which records to create based on the presence of data in the name columns — if a name column is empty, no record is created for that entity in that row. Segment values are linked to their parent segments by using the Segment_Code column, so ensure that the segment is defined in an earlier row within the same CSV file.

Header Description Expected Values Sample Value
RowNumber Sequential row identifier Integer (for example, 1, 2, 3) 1
Category_Name Name of the target category Text Demographics
Category_Code Unique code for the category Text DEMO
Category_IsActive Whether the category is active. TRUE / FALSE True
Category_DisplaySequence Display order of the category Integer 1
Category_Description Description of the category Text (optional) Audience demographic targeting
Segment_Name Name of the segment within the category Text Age Range
Segment_Code Unique code for the segment Text AGE
Segment_IsActive Whether the segment is active TRUE / FALSE TRUE
Segment_DataType Data type of the segment Text (for example, String, Number, Boolean) String
Segment_DisplayType How the segment appears in the UI. Text (for example, Picklist, Checkbox, Text) Picklist
Segment_DisplaySequence Show the order of the segment. Integer 1
Segment_Description Description of the segment Text (optional) Target audience age group
SegmentValue_Name Name of the segment value Text 18-24
SegmentValue_ServerIdentifier External identifier used by the ad server Text AGE_18_24
SegmentValue_PriceAdjustmentType Type of price adjustment applied Text (for example, Percentage, Flat) Percentage
SegmentValue_PriceAdjustmentValue Numeric value of the price adjustment Decimal 10.00
SegmentValue_Rank Priority ranking of the segment value Integer 1

Use the Assign Targeting Data template to associate existing targeting records with products, product classifications, and media types. This template creates records in Ad Available Target Segment, Ad Available Target Segment Value, and Ad Product Default Target Value. Two columns — ShouldAssociateDefaultTargeting and ShouldAssociateAvailableTargeting — control which association records are created for each row. Both can be set to TRUE in the same row to create all association types in a single pass. The template uses unique identifier fields such as codes and server identifiers to locate existing records in your org.
