Promotion Evaluation and Stackability in Subscriber Lifecycle Management
Promotions are organized into groups. Salesforce evaluates those groups to decide which promotions apply together and which take precedence on a quote or an order.

Advanced Stackability Overview
Advanced stackability determines which promotions apply together on a quote line item or an order line item and which take precedence when more than one promotion is eligible. To control which promotions apply together on a product and in what order, organize promotions into a rule library that has a parent group and subgroups.
Advanced stackability applies to both simple and term-based promotions. A single line item can combine a flat discount and a term-based discount when the rule library is configured to combine them.
When more than one promotion in a non-stackable group is eligible, the group uses First Eligible Promotion, so only the highest-priority promotion applies, where priority 1 is the highest. A lower discount with a higher priority applies over a higher discount with a lower priority.
Promotion Groups and Subgroups
Salesforce organizes promotions into a rule library that has a parent group, three subgroups (Line, Cross-line, and Order), and the custom child groups that you create to control which promotions compete and which combine. For information, see Select Promotion Evaluation and Execution Strategy.
Promotion Evaluation Methods
Salesforce evaluates each subgroup and then combines the subgroup results because the parent group uses the Stacked method. Within a subgroup or child group, the configured evaluation method determines which promotions apply.
The rule library supports these evaluation methods.
- Stacked: Salesforce evaluates each eligible promotion in the group independently and calculates each discount individually and then aggregates them. Stacked promotions combine on the same quote line item or order line item.
- First Eligible Promotion: Every eligible promotion in the group is evaluated by promotion priority. The first eligible promotion applies to each line item and to the order.
For information, see Plan Your Promotions' Evaluation Strategy.
Two non-stackable promotions never apply to the same line item. However, different non-stackable promotions can apply to different products in the same order. Within each group, the evaluation method resolves competition, and the Stacked parent group combines the results across subgroups.
- Set Up Promotion Groups and Evaluation Methods
Create promotions, organize them into custom child groups, and set the evaluation method for each group to control which promotions can be applied together. - Manage Advanced Stackability for Promotions
Apply the promotions that a customer is eligible for on a quote or an order, and review which promotions applied and in what order.
