Prepare Your Org for Advanced Account Forecasting

Turn on these features in Setup.

  • Advanced Account Forecasting
  • Data Pipelines

See Enable Features for Manufacturing Cloud.

Configure Permissions and Security Settings

Assign the required permissions to users that need to set up and use Advanced Account Forecasting.

To define the forecast dimensions and measures that various users can view, configure the field-level security for the Advanced Account Forecast Set Use object and your forecast fact object.

Create sharing rules to give various users access to view and edit forecast data.

Manage Your Forecast Fact Object

The predefined Advanced Account Forecast Fact object includes fields that represent commonly-used forecast dimensions, such as product and period, and measures, such as sales agreement revenue, forecasted quantity, and opportunity revenue. To meet your unique forecasting needs, you can extend the Advanced Account Forecast Fact object or create a custom forecast fact object. See Manage Your Forecast Fact Object for Advanced Account Forecasting.

Configure Data Processing Engine Definitions

For forecast measures that are calculated by using the Batch Process calculation method, Advanced Account Forecasting uses Data Processing Engine (DPE) to generate measure values. Advanced Account Forecasting includes DPE templates that generate, regenerate, rollover, and recalculate forecasts. Clone and use the DPE templates as is, or extend the DPE templates based on your business needs. See Data Processing Engine for Advanced Account Forecast Calculations.

Define Dimension Sources

Before you select dimensions for your forecast sets, define the source objects for forecast dimensions in the Advanced Account Forecasting settings in Setup.

Create Period Groups

To define the duration and the number of periods for which forecasts are generated and displayed, create period groups in the Advanced Account Forecasting settings in Setup. After you define period groups, you can select period groups to be used for forecast sets.

If your fiscal year follows a different structure from the Gregorian calendar or if you want to use the Weekly forecast frequency, define custom fiscal years.

Create Forecast Sets

To define the configurations of forecasts for different business objectives, create forecast sets. A forecast set includes configurations for forecast dimensions, measures, adjustment periods, calculation methods, and calculation frequencies. After you create a forecast set, activate it.

Create Custom Dimensions and Measures

To create a custom dimension, create a custom lookup field on the Advanced Account Forecast Fact object or your custom forecast fact that represents the dimension. Add the new field as a dimension source. Then, add the new field as a dimension in a forecast set.

To create a custom measure, create a custom number, currency, or formula field on the Advanced Account Forecast Fact object or your custom forecast fact that represents the measure. Then, add the new field as a measure in a forecast set.

Orchestrate Forecast Calculations

For forecast measures that are calculated by using the Batch Process calculation method, create flows to orchestrate the end-to-end process of calculating forecasts. You can use flows that come with prebuilt apps, customize the templates based on your unique needs, or create flows from scratch. See Flow for Advanced Account Forecast Calculations.

You can also use triggers to run forecast calculations.

Set Up Forecasting in Experience Cloud Sites

To help partner users track forecasts in your partner portal, set up an Experience Cloud site for Manufacturing.

Add a menu item for the Advanced Account Forecast Set Use or Advanced Account Forecast Set Partner objects. See Customize Sites with Experience Builder.

Note
Note Advanced Account Forecasting is available only for Partner Community users. This feature does not support Customer Community Plus (CCP) licenses. To ensure users can access advanced forecasting data and functionality, verify that they are assigned the appropriate Partner Community license.

Track and Adjust Forecasts

Users can track forecasts for business contexts in advanced account forecast set use records. They can filter forecasts by dimensions, time periods, or list views for the Advanced Account Forecast Fact object. They can update individual forecast values or simultaneously update multiple values during the adjustment period defined for their user profile. See Advanced Account Forecasts Tracking and Adjustment.

Set Up Analytics on Forecasts

Deploy Analytics for Advanced Account Forecasting by assigning permissions, enabling CRM Analytics, and creating and sharing the analytics app with your users. See Deploy Advanced Account Forecasting Analytics for Manufacturing.
