Take a Representative Path
If a State Model has no alternate states and no transitions with multiple independent rules, you can test it in one pass. For most State Models, you need multiple passes along multiple paths to test all states, rules, and actions.
To take a representative path through the Report Card State Model:
- In Lightning Experience, click the App Launcher
. - Type report in the Search field and select Report Cards.
- Click New.
- Specify a Report Card Name. This can include the name of the Contact that has your email.
- Verify that the following settings have the listed values:
Setting
Value
State
Enrolled
Type
Student
Grade
I
- From the Graded Contact drop-down list, select the Contact that has your email.
- Click Save.
- Verify that Enrolled is the initial state.
- Click the Completed state. Because the Grade value is still
I, the State Model should transition to Incomplete. - Check your email. You should see an email titled Course Incomplete.
- Click the Edit icon for the Grade field and change its value to
A. - Click the Completed state again. The State Model should transition to Completed.
- Click the Passed state. The State Model should transition to Passed.
- Check your email. You should see an email titled Course Completed. The body of the email should list A as the grade.
- Click Delete so you can recreate the Report Card and make another test pass using another path through the State Model.
