Phase 2: Decide Your Migration Strategy
Start phase 2 after finishing the assessment work in phase 1. This phase is where the team selects a migration strategy, defines the future state, and identifies who will help deliver the project.
Select a Migration Strategy
Use the complexity profile from phase 1 and the strategy framework to select the approach that best fits the current state and goals of your company. Document the decision and the reasoning behind it. This record serves as a reference point when scope questions arise later in the project. For details about the various migration strategies, see Understand Migration Strategies.
Complete Revenue Management Training
The team can make more informed strategy decisions when they understand what Revenue Management offers. Before finalizing the approach, make sure that the core team has completed relevant Revenue Management training. Focus on Product Catalog Management, Salesforce Pricing, Product Configurator, Transaction Management, Asset Lifecycle Management, Dynamic Revenue Orchestrator, and Agentforce for Revenue Management. Salesforce Trailhead and your account executive are good starting points.

Engage a System Integrator
For most companies, working with a Salesforce-certified system integrator who has documented the CPQ to Revenue Management migration experience is an important part of a successful project. Engaging a system integrator during phase 2, before the future-state design is finalized, allows their expertise to shape the design rather than only support its execution.
Define Data Migration Scope
Based on the org assessment in phase 1 and the strategy selected in this phase, determine the data that moves to Revenue Management, the data that gets archived, and the data that can be archived to preserve history. Data migration scope affects the overall effort, the cutover approach, and post-go-live reporting.
See Determine Your Data Migration Scope to understand and determine the scope of your data for migration.
See Evaluate and Select a Migration Strategy for the available migration options in detail.
Phase 2 Checklist
Before moving to phase 3, confirm that you’ve completed these tasks.
