Comparing Contract Document Versions

Contract authors and users can compare a contract's current version with any of the previous versions to identify differences introduced during redlining. The contract comparison feature is available only if the contract document version has DOCX files. The compare feature highlights differences, ‌such as content modifications and table edits. You can generate the preview to review the differences. For larger documents, the preview generation can take longer, so you can download the document for an offline review. You can initiate a contract comparison from the contract’s record page or directly from the Microsoft 365 editor.

  During contract negotiations, contract authors can compare contract versions directly from the Microsoft 365 editor. Use the Compare Contracts feature to analyze differences between document versions. First, check out the document version from the contract record page, then open the Salesforce Contracts Connector add-in. The steps include selecting a .docx document, choosing the version to compare against, and viewing the highlighted changes between versions. You get a clear, side-by-side comparison of the modifications, including edits, additions, and deletions.

  The limitations of the contract comparison feature include support for only DOCX documents. The feature also has a cap on the maximum preview size, default page count limits, and variation in preview generation time. If the document preview fails, especially for larger files, you can download the comparison document to view the differences.
