Export and Import of Document Templates in Salesforce Orgs
Using a managed package to standardize document templates across various Salesforce orgs, including production and sandbox environments. This package facilitates the transfer of document templates by letting users to export them from a source org, such as a sandbox, and subsequently to import them into a target organization, such as production.
For example, to create a managed package, the process begins in a sandbox. After creating the package, you can upload it to AppExchange, generating a unique URL. Use the URL to install install the managed package into the production organization, ensuring a consistent user experience across various environments.
You can also use Salesforce CLI (SF CLI) or SF CLI–based tools to export and import document templates. See Salesforce CLI.
- Export Document Templates from a Salesforce Org
To export document templates from the source organization, ensure that the Document Templates Export setting is turned on. After enabling the setting, you can include the templates in a managed package for export. To export templates that were created before enabling the Document Templates Export setting, you must first turn on the setting, and then modify and save those preexisting templates. - Import Document Templates into a Salesforce Org
