Assign Document Generation Permission Set to your Users
Grant users the required access to design templates and generate documents with Salesforce Document Generation, enabling them to complete document-related tasks efficiently

Prerequisites:
- Make sure the Server-Side Document Generation and Design Document Template settings are turned on.
- Understand the different DocGen permission sets available such as, DocGen Designer, DocGen User, DocGen Runtime Community User and their intended uses.
Note For Digital Experience (Community) users, create custom permission sets in addition
to assigning the DocGen Runtime Community User permission set to grant specific access to
Document Generation Processes objects and fields.

Assign document generation permission set to a single user.
- From Setup, enter Users in the Quick Find box and select Users.

Click Edit next to the name of the user you want to grant
permissions to.
Verify their User License is set to Salesforce and a relevant Profile is assigned.
- Scroll down to the Permission Set Assignments related list and click Edit Assignments.

In the Available Permission Set list, select the appropriate DocGen permission sets based
on the user's role.
For example, DocGen Designer for template creation, DocGen User for document generation.
- Click Add to move the selected permission sets to the Enabled Permission Set list.
- Save your changes to apply the permission set assignments to the user.

Alternatively, assign multiple users to a permission set.
- From Setup, enter Permission Sets in the Quick Find box and select Permission Sets.
- Click the label of the desired DocGen permission set.
- Click Manage Assignments.
- Click Add Assignments.
- Select the checkboxes next to the users you want to assign the permission set to.
- Click Assign.

For users needing combined Omnistudio and DocGen permissions, use Permission Set
Groups.
- From Setup, enter Users in the Quick Find box and select Users.

Click Edit next to the name of the user you want to grant
permissions to.
Verify their User License is set to Salesforce and a relevant Profile is assigned.
- Scroll down to the Permission Set Group Assignments related list and click Edit Assignments.
- In the Available Permission Set Groups list, select the relevant group and click Add, then save your changes.
- Verify that users can now access the features associated with their assigned permission sets. For example, the DocGen Designer in the App Launcher for users with the DocGen Designer permission set.
- If users encounter issues, double-check their assigned permission sets and ensure all necessary permissions are included.
