Use stage assignment rule criteria to dynamically apply different stage definitions to
records of the same object and record type. Define conditional logic to match records based on
field values, and apply a more relevant stage journey without duplicating objects, record types,
or page layouts.

User Permissions Needed
To configure stage management:
Stage Management Design User
From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Stage Management, and then
select Stage Definition Assignments.
In All Stage Definition Assignments, click the name of an existing stage definition
assignment.
In the Stage Assignment Rule Criteria section, click New.
Note You can add up to 50 stage assignment rule criteria.
Provide these details:
Field
Description
Name
Enter a name for the rule criteria to identify the rule entry within the
assignment.
Expression Type
Select the type of logical expression to apply, such as All Conditions Are Met
(AND), Any Condition is Met (OR), and Logical Expression is Met.
You can use Logical
Expression is Met to provide a custom logic. For example, (1 AND (2 OR 3)).
Click Add Condition and provide the field name, operator, and value
for the condition.
For example, Priority Equals Critical.
The condition defines the field-based logic that
determines when this rule gets applied.
Note You can add up to 5 conditions.
In the Stage Definition field, search and select the stage definition that you want to
assign to when the condition is met.
Click Save.
The rule criteria is evaluated against a record when the record gets created or updated. If
the record matches the condition, the related stage definition is applied. If no conditions
match, the default stage definition is used.
