Determine the Promotion Categories Assigned to the Promotion
The system considers the Promotion Access Definition Policy of the sales org and the
promotion’s anchor customer or anchor customer set to determine the promotions that a user can
access.

While creating a promotion for a customer or a customer set, the system generates a Promotion
Product Share record for each product category to which the user has access. The Promotion
Product Share record is used along with the Product Category Share object to determine the
categories that the user has access to in a promotion.
This table explains how Promotion Product Share is determined from the Product Category
Share:

The promotion has product categories for which the user has Read or Write
access.
The user can add or remove such categories to or from the promotion.
The product categories for which the user has Read or Write access aren’t assigned to
the promotion.
The user can add or remove such categories to or from the promotion along with the
other product categories.
Whenever a category is included in the promotion, the system creates a Promotion Product Share
record for the included category. Similarly, when a category is removed from the promotion, the
system deletes the Promotion Product Share record of the category.
