The BOM scope of an editable KPI determines the levels at which the manual inputs are distributed. For KPIs with a complete BOM scope (P and C), manual inputs are distributed at all levels—standard product, BOM header, and BOM component. For the rest of the possible combinations, the system uses the distribution settings of the KPIs to distribute values across only the relevant levels to ensure that the manual input isn’t lost.
Here are a few examples that provide details on how the BOM scope influences the distribution of manual inputs.
A promotion ranges from June 01, 2021 - June 10, 2021 with the following data:

- The BOM scope of the KPI 1 is (Product, Component). So, all the levels are within the scope of manual input distribution.
- The distribution type across the plan and time hierarchy of KPI A is metric and it uses KPI 1 as the metric KPI. The system returns a null value in KPI A for all the cells with a zero value in the KPI 1. The system equally distributes the manual input across all the other cells with values to ensure that the manual input isn’t lost.

A promotion ranges from June 01, 2021 - June 10, 2021 with the following data:
Brand Upples includes a standard product—Upples Chocolate Coconut—and a BOM product—Snacks Chocolate 6 * 128. The BOM scope of the KPIs is Header. So, the entire manual input from Brand Upples is distributed only to the BOM Header—Snacks Chocolate 6 * 128. Standard products are out of scope for the manual distribution of KPIs. The system distributes the manual inputs of the KPI only across the BOM header to ensure that the manual input isn’t lost.
Similarly, for Brand Lopples, the entire manual input from the brand is distributed only to the BOM header—Lopples Chocolate 6/12*96. Standard products are out of scope for the manual distribution of KPIs.

So, the entire manual input from Brand Upples is distributed only to the standard product—Upples Chocolate Coconut. BOM headers are out of scope for the manual distribution of KPIs. The system distributes the manual inputs of the KPI only across the standard product to ensure that the manual input isn’t lost.
Similarly, for Brand Lopples, the entire manual input from the brand is distributed only to the standard product—Upples Cranberry. BOM headers are out of scope for the manual distribution of KPIs.
