The Lump Sum Equal Split method evenly distributes a total fixed amount over a defined
period. This is useful for costs that are incurred over the entire duration of a tactic, such as
weekly advertising space.
Required Editions
Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions where Trade Promotion
Management, Data Cloud, and CRM Analytics are enabled
Business Scenario: Weekly Promotion Fee
Calculation: The total amount is divided by the number of days in the period. The
calculation includes special rounding with a carry-over to ensure that the total accrued
amount exactly matches the lump sum.
For example:, you have a tactic with a lump sum cost of $5,000 for account X and product Y,
which runs for 7 days (June 17 to June 23, 2025). You want to split this cost evenly across
each day of the promotion.
Day 1: $714.29
Day 2: $714.28
Day 3: $714.29
...and so on, until the total reaches $5,000.
Rule Definition: Create a LumpSum_Equal rule. The system automatically
calculates the daily split based on the Date From, Date Thru, and Value fields.
