Rate-Based Funds
To set up flexible funds that depend on the volume and revenue planned for a customer, create rate-based funds (RBFs). Every RBF is linked to a customer and a fund type. The fund type of an RBF is determined from the RBF template that’s used to create the RBF. View the sum of the actual and the remaining RBF funds for a customer in a customer’s fund.

For example, create a fund template (CDF) and then create a fund (CDF FY24) using the fund template with Account 1 as the anchor customer for the fund. Create an RBF template (CDFBaseRPC), and add CDF as the fund type. Then, create three rate-based funds using the RBF template (CDFBaseRPC), and add Account 1 as customer for two of these rate-based funds. In the CDF FY24 fund, the actual and remaining funds show the sum of actual and remaining funds of the rate-based funds associated with Account 1, and not the sum of all rate-based funds created using the CDFBaseRPC template.
The rate types of an RBF reflect the calculation methods that are used to generate funds during promotional activities. Possible rate types are:
- Currency per case: The system credits the RBF with the defined amount for every case of the product sold.
- Percent of Revenue: The system credits the RBF with the defined percentage of product, brand, or category revenue.
- Fixed: The system distributes the total funding across the product hierarchy.
An RBF page shows a product hierarchy grid. The Account Product List Type configured for the sales organization of the RBF template determines the products shown in the grid. If Global Account Product List is selected for the sales organization, the grid shows all categories, brands, and products (standard and BOM header products). If Time-Dependent Account Product List is selected for the sales organization, the grid shows only the products that are added to the customer’s assortments.
KPIs shown in the grid depend on the KPI set added to the associated RBF template.
- Create a Rate-Based Fund Template
A rate-based fund (RBF) template is the blueprint to create a rate-based fund, and determines the fund type of the associated RBF. - Create a Rate-Based Fund
A rate-based fund (RBF) is a flexible amount that is allocated to an account based on the volume or revenue planned for the customer. - Submit a Rate-Based Funding for Approval
If an approval process is configured for rate-based funding (RBF), submit the RBF for approval. - Stop Transactions on Rate-Based Funding Records
You can stop transactions for a rate-based fund if the RBF is active and approved. - Distribute a Rate-Based Fund
You can distribute a rate-based fund (RBF) from the highest-level of a customer hierarchy to all the other levels in the hierarchy. When the RBF is distributed, the system creates RBFs for all accounts in the customer hierarchy. The rates defined at higher nodes are copied to the child nodes. Distribution of RBF reduces maintenance efforts because you can create one RBF for each customer and make it applicable to all other customers in the same hierarchy. - Override a Distributed Rate-Based Fund
If the rate-based fund (RBF) rates for an account within a customer hierarchy differ from the other accounts in the hierarchy, you can override the rate. Overriding the RBF rate is possible only if the Manual Override check box is selected for the parent RBF.
