          Weekday Share Profiles

          Weekday Share Profiles

Based on how your promotions performed, create a weekday share profile (WDSP) to distribute KPIs, such as the baseline volume, among the days of a week or subperiods. Analyze the KPI distribution to understand an account’s performance on each day of a week or a subperiod and plan your promotions accordingly. You can define WDSP as either a percentage or absolute value. You can use both business year and custom periods.

          Example
Example This example shows how baseline volume is distributed among subperiods.

The percentage of the weekly volume per day for an account is:

          • Monday: 25%
          • Tuesday: 20%
          • Wednesday: 15%
          • Thursday: 10%
          • Friday: 20%
          • Saturday: 10%
          • Sunday: 0%

          The week has these subperiods.

          • Monday–Wednesday
          • Thursday
          • Friday and Saturday

Here’s how the baseline volume is split among each subperiod.

          • Monday–Wednesday: 25+20+15=60%
          • Thursday: 10%
          • Friday and Saturday: 20+10=30%

The WDSP is also used for distributing monthly data. But because the profile is set up for weekdays, the percentage values can’t be directly used.

          Example
Example Using the same WDSP in the previous example for the month of July, which has these subperiods.
          • July 1–7
          • July 8–19
          • July 20–31

Here’s the calendar for the month, and Sunday is the start of the week.

          Calendar for July

Here’s how the volume data is split among the subperiods.

          • July 1–7:

The days in the subperiod are Saturday to Friday. The WDSP is [(10+25+20+15+10+20)/Total Monthly Volume]*100 = [100/435]*100 = 22.98%.

          • July 8–19:

The days in the subperiod are Saturday plus 1 complete week plus Sunday to Wednesday. The WDSP is [(10+100+0+25+20+15)/Total Monthly Volume]*100=[170/435]*100=39.08.

          • July 20–31:

The days in the subperiod are Thursday to Saturday plus 1 complete week plus Sunday to Monday. The WDSP is [(10+20+10+100+0+25)/Total Monthly Volume]*100=[165/435]*100=37.93.

You can define a WDSP for an account at multiple places in Salesforce. However, only one of these is effective at a time.

          • In the Customer Category Week Day Distribution Profiles related list of an account
          • In the Customer Extensions related list of an account
          • In a sales organization record by adding a WDSP.

In the sales organization of an account, you can select Enable Customer Category Profile to specify whether to use a category-dependent or category-independent WDSP.

          Default WDSP

If you select Enable Customer Category Profile, the share profile in the Customer Category Week Day Distribution Profiles related list that has both the customer and category added is used. If there is no share profile, the WSDP added in the Customer Extension related list is used. If the WSDP isn’t included in the Customer Extension related list, the WDSP in the sales organization is used. And the sales organization doesn’t have a WDSP, the KPIs are distributed equally among all days of the week.

If Enable Customer Category Profile isn’t selected, the share profile in the Customer Category Week Day Distribution Profiles related list that has only customer added is used. If there is no share profile, the WSDP added in the Customer Extension related list is used. If the WSDP isn’t included in the Customer Extension related list, the WDSP in the sales organization is used. And the sales organization doesn’t have a WDSP, the KPIs are distributed equally among all days of the week.

In custom calendars, for weeks that are longer or shorter than 7 days, the system calculates a new distribution share. This calculation is based on the WSDP and the proportional percentage for the week that is longer or shorter. The formula used for this calculation is (100% * Day % from WSDP) / (Sum Day % of non-week). For example, a week has 5 days, so the (Sum Day % of non-week) = 70%. For a Monday that’s a part of a 5-day week, the distribution is (100% * 25%) / 70% = 35.71%.
