Claim Tactics, Claim Tactic KPIs, and Claim Tactic Funds

Claim Tactics, Claim Tactic KPIs, and Claim Tactic Funds

After you create or import a claim, manually link tactics to the claim. The funds related with the linked tactics are automatically allocated to the claim. Products and KPIs for a claim-tactic appear on the Spend Planning tab on the tactic details page.

          Claim Tactics

To analyze the effectiveness of a promotion or its tactics, it’s important that a claim appears in the promotion P&L. A claim appears in the promotion P&L only if a tactic is associated with it. So, a tactic is the key component of a claim.

Sometimes, when you import claims from third-party systems, the claims and tactics aren’t linked because of insufficient information. So, make sure that you manually link all claims to tactics, for both interfaced claims and the manually created ones.

When you link a tactic to a claim, claim-tactic records are created, and every claim-tactic relationship is unique. You can’t link a tactic to a claim or delete a claim-tactic if one of these conditions is true.

          • Enable Payment Overwrite is selected for the associated sales organization.
          • The claim status is one of these: Approved, To be Closed, Canceled, or Adjusted.
          • The adjustment type of the claim is Payment Reversal.

You can see all tactics associated with the claim in the Tactics grid. Tactic Payout (1) is the amount related to the tactic. To-Date Paid (2) is the sum of all Tactic Payout values of the tactic for all approved claims. Pending Claim (3) is the sum of all Tactic Payout values of the tactic for all claims that aren’t yet approved.

To see the details of the tactic and their payouts in the Tactics grid, click the link in the Promotion - Tactic column. You see the Spend Planning tab if these conditions are met. Otherwise, you see the Payment Summary tab.

          • Enable Payment Overwrite isn’t selected for the associated sales organization.
          • The claim status isn’t one of these: Approved, To be Closed, Canceled, or Adjusted.
          • The adjustment type of the claim isn’t Payment Reversal.

The products that you see for a claim-tactic are the products that are added to the promotions that the tactic is created for. The products are shown for an individual tactic and aren’t combined for all tactics of the claim. The product hierarchy configured in the promotion template of a tactic’s promotion determines the hierarchy of the products in the claim-tactic record.

The allocated cost for a tactic is distributed across the product levels according to the distribution setting of the KPI that’s added as Tactic Payout KPI Definition in the claim template. When you edit a product’s tactic payout, the system distributes the new tactic payout across all product levels. Typically, volume or revenue is distributed across products.

          Claim Tactic KPIs

Claim tactic KPIs are KPI definitions with the Claim Tactic object scope and that belong to a KPI set with the Claim usage set. Claim account KPIs are KPI definitions with the Account object scope and that belong to a KPI set with the Claim usage set.

When a claim is created, tactic costs are distributed among the tactic products. The claim tactic KPIs provide insights on the tactic's effectiveness. Based on the KPI set and the KPI subset of a claim template, the KPIs appear in the claim tactic grid.

Here’s how the system reads and shows the KPI values in the Claim Tactic grid.

          • For claim tactic KPIs, the system doesn’t consider the promotion or tactic for tables that aren’t promotion- or tactic-specific. For KPIs that are promotion- or tactic-specific, the system retrieves promotion- or tactic-specific data from tables based on the selection of the writeback structure. The relevant tables are:
            • Promotion Measure Result JSON
            • Promotion Measure Result JSON
            • Promotion Tactic Daily Measure Real
            • Promotion Tactic Weekly Measure Real
          • For claim account KPIs, the system considers the account related to the promotion, correct period, and measure code that are defined in the KPI definition when aggregating the data to show.

          Claims-Tactics Fund

Claim-tactic fund is the portion of the tactic payout value that is covered by a fund.

If Enable Payment Overwrite is selected for the sales organization, Claim tactic fund records are automatically created when a tactic with related funds is linked to a claim. If a tactic is associated with two funds, two Claim tactic fund records are created. If Enable Payment Overwrite is selected, you can’t manually add funds to a claim tactic, or edit or delete the existing funds assigned to the claim-tactic.

If Enable Tactic Auto Fund Assignment is selected for the sales organization, you can define the funding percentage for tactic funds. And, if you define the funding percentage of the supporting funds, then the tactic payout value on the claim tactic is distributed to any linked funds based on the defined percentages. If the sum of the funding percentage values is equal to 100, then tactic payout amount is distributed according to the funding percentage. But if the sum of the funding percentage values is less than 100, or one of the funding percentages is blank, then the tactic payout amount is distributed equally among the funds.

If the Requires Fund option is selected for the claim template, you can add only the tactics with funds to a claim.

When a claim is approved, the claim-tactic funds of the claim are locked. So, you can’t create, edit, or delete any claim tactic fund related to an approved claim.

          • Combining and Linking Claims
Many imported claims are deductions and are related to a common planning anchor. If at least two claims have the same planning anchor, then combine these claims for easy handling. When you combine claims, the system creates a parent claim record that’s related to all selected (child) claims. You can see these records in the Child Claims related list of the parent claim. After claims are combined, the system changes the family status of the selected claims from Orphan to Adopted and locks the child claims. After you combine multiple claims and a parent claim is created, link to the parent claim the other claims that have the same planning anchor as the parent claim.
