          Push a National Promotion

          Push a National Promotion

You can push promotions that are anchored to a customer at a higher level of the customer hierarchy to the customers at the lower planning levels. You can also create promotions for a customer set and then push them to the customers that the customer set contains.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience

Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions where Consumer Goods Cloud is enabled

Only the promotions that you created using pushable promotion templates can be pushed in this manner. And you can create a push promotion only if the customers associated with the anchor customer have an external ID in customer extension. For a successful push, make sure that the external ID of your customers don’t exceed 183 characters.

          Note
Note You can push a promotion irrespective of whether it is in Read-only or Edit mode.

To push a promotion to customers at the planning level:

          Note
Note Ensure that your key account manager has created a pushable promotion and has defined promotion attributes that include the anchor customer or anchor customer set (which is at a higher non-planning level of the customer hierarchy).
          1. Open the pushable promotion.
          2. On the Promotion Detail page, locate the Participating Customers card.
The card shows the list of customers to whom you can push the promotion. The customers are determined in this manner:
            • If you anchored the pushable promotion to a customer, the card shows customers from the first level found (below the level to which the anchor customer belongs) in each branch of the customer hierarchy. The system considers only those customers who have a valid promotion role on the commit date of the promotion and for whom the Account Plan Type attribute is set to Plan.
            • If you anchored the pushable promotion to a customer set, the card shows all customers included in the customer set who have a valid promotion role on the commit date of the promotion and for whom the Account Plan Type attribute is set to Plan.

By default, all customers are included.

          3. In the Participating Customers card, review the list of customers and exclude any customer, if necessary.
          4. From the promotion header, click Push.
          5. To initiate the push process, click OK.
          Note
Note To successfully push promotions, make sure the correct permissions are in place. Without the appropriate permissions and access to the records, the push process can fail or lead to incorrect calculations.
          • The user who starts the push process needs read and write access to both the parent and child promotion records.
          • The user who runs the promotion calculation batch service also needs read and write access, because Consumer Goods Cloud Processing Services updates these records during the push process.

The system redirects you to the page from where you accessed the promotion. If you initiate the push process while the promotion is in Edit mode, the system saves the promotion. The system uses the child template that's assigned to the pushable promotion template to create a promotion for each selected participating customer for whom a child promotion doesn't exist. After you initiate the push process, the system selects the parent promotion as Read-only and disables the Push button and the Participating Customers card until the process is completed. However, if the push process experiences an error or takes longer than the specified time limit, the system unblocks the parent promotion. The system tracks the status of the push process in Processing Services (in the Promotion Push Status object).

          Note
          Note
          • When you subsequently push a promotion, if you exclude any customer for whom a child promotion has already been created, the system selects the status of the child promotion as Cancelled.
          • If an error occurs during the push process (manual and automatic), the system shows a notification to reinitiate the push process.
          • The maximum number of push processes that you can queue at a time for an org is limited to 25. If you exceed the limit, the system either shows an error message (on clicking the Push button) or notification (in case of automatic repush). In this scenario, reinitiate the push process.
          • You can only create a parent push promotion for an account if the account has no more than 600 sub accounts on the planning level.
          • Each parent promotion can have a maximum of 600 child promotions.

When you push a promotion, the system copies certain components from the parent promotion to the child promotion. The Copied Components attribute of the promotion template hierarchy determines whether products, notes, and tactics are copied.

The child promotions that the push process created retain the link to the parent promotion and can't be edited. Ensure that you make any changes in the parent promotion and then push the changes to the child promotions. However, for these promotions, you can apply filters and adjust the data that the Promotion P&L view shows.

If you configure products to be copied, the system copies the fixed products that belong to the parent promotion to the child promotion. In both scenarios, the system copies only the products that have a valid KAM status to the new promotion. In other words, ensure that the products have a valid KAM status on the date or date range that you configured in the Consider Product KAM Status setting of the promotion template.

If you configured the promotion template to consider the account product list, the system copies only the products that belong to the account product list relevant to the anchor customer of the new promotion. If the sales org uses a time-dependent list, ensure that the products are included in the list for at least one day during the new promotion.

You can push the promotion any number of times. When you push a promotion again, the system synchronizes certain attributes of the parent promotion to the child promotions. Similar to the initial push, the Copied Components attribute determines whether products, notes, and tactics are synchronized.

The attributes of promotion, tactic, attachment links, and product categories that the system copies from the parent promotion to the child promotions during subsequent pushes depend on the Fields to Sync field set that's available for each of these objects. Projects can modify the field set to restrict the fields, if necessary.

          Note
Note If during a subsequent push, a customer for whom a child promotion exists is removed from the participating customers list, the system selects the phase of the promotion as Cancelled.
          • Repush Promotions
While editing a parent promotion, if a user updates the parent promotion but forgets to push it, the system doesn't update the changes in the child promotion. To resolve this, the system automatically repushes promotions by triggering the push process again.
          • Enable Push Promotions to Run Entirely in CG Processing Services
You can isolate push promotions from other Apex batch processes by running them in a dedicated process in Consumer Goods Cloud Processing Services. You can schedule to push parent promotions with up to 10,000 child promotions at a time.
          • Monitoring Push Promotions
The cgcloud__Promotion_Push_Status__c object records every executed push promotion. It gives administrators a real-time view of all promotions that are currently processing or are still in the queue.
