          Settings for Hierarchy Graphs

          Settings for Hierarchy Graphs

The following Relationship Graph Admin Config tool settings apply to hierarchy graphs.

Hierarchy graphs have rectangles that represent objects, connected by lines that represent the relationships between them, which must be one-to-many. Relationship direction defines hierarchy position. For example, if one Contact manages another, the first Contact is higher in the hierarchy.

For color options, see the HTML Color Picker. All numeric values represent pixels unless otherwise specified.

          Graph Configuration

          Choose a Hierarchy Type:

          • Horizontal Tree — The root node is on the left. Traversals flow to the right. Nodes at same level from the root node are vertically aligned.

          • Vertical Tree — The root node is at the top. Traversals flow downward. Nodes at same level from the root node are horizontally aligned.

          • Horizontal Cluster — The root node is on the left. Traversals flow to the right. Nodes having no subordinate nodes are vertically aligned on the right.

          • Vertical Cluster — The root node is at the top. Traversals flow downward. Nodes having no subordinate nodes are horizontally aligned on the bottom.

          • Treelist — The root node is at the top left. Each level away from the root node is indented farther to the right. You can use Node Spacing to adjust the vertical space between nodes and Node Indent to adjust the amount of indentation per level.

          Node Configuration

To change the color and thickness of node borders, change the Strike Color and Strike Width in the Node Configuration. You can also change the Node Fill Color. You can use Custom Settings to override the default node colors.

You can limit the Node Title Length in characters. Values that exceed this length are truncated with ellipses.

You can change the Node Width and Node Height.

Hierarchy graph nodes have an icon that displays the Node Information when you click on it. You can change the Node Info Icon Color.

Parent nodes have a clickable icon that expands and collapses the child nodes. You can change the Node Collapse Icon Color. You can also Hide Collapse Icon.

You can set the default number of levels displayed using Collapse After Level. The minimum value is 2. You can also Expand All Nodes.

          Node Type Information

Select an object type such as Contact, then click Add to add a tab for that object to the Node Display Field Configuration.

For each object, select the General Settings fields for which values are displayed for each node:

          • Title — The default field is Name.

          • Subtitle — Optional. No default field.

          • Picture — The default field is PhotoUrl. You can select Hide Picture.

          Note
          Note

Values of the Title, Subtitle, and Description fields that exceed the standard node width are truncated with ellipses.

See the Settings for All Graph Types for Tooltip Fields and Filter Configuration.

          Custom Node Settings

You can use Custom Settings to override the default node colors for specific node types. Border Color overrides Strike Color and Background Color overrides Node Fill Color.

If basing such overrides on node types is insufficient, you can add conditions:

          1. Click Add Condition.

          2. Select a Property Name.

          3. Select an Operator such as equals.

          4. Specify a Compare Value.

          5. Specify a Background Color and Border Color for the condition.

          6. Click Apply Condition.

If you apply multiple conditions, the order of precedence is last to first.

          Relationships (Line Style)

Set the Path Type to change the style of the lines:

          • Default — Curved lines for a Tree or Cluster Hierarchy Type, no lines for a Treelist.

          • Orthogonal — Straight lines that bend at 90-degree angles.

To change the thickness, color, and type of lines representing relationships, change the Stroke Width, Stroke Color, and Stroke Type. For Stroke Type, choose Solid or Dashed.
