Evaluation Methods

Marketing managers can choose from one of these evaluation method for their promotion subgroups.

Method Use Example
Stacked

All promotions in a subgroup are evaluated independently for carts and cart line items. The applicable promotion discounts are calculated individually and then aggregated.

Marketing managers can use this to combine all eligible promotions for the biggest possible savings for customers.

A customer's cart is eligible for a 'Free Shipping on orders over $50' promotion and a separate '10% Off' promotion. With the stacked method, the customer receives both the free shipping and the 10% discount.
First Eligible Promotion

All promotions in a subgroup are evaluated based on promotion priority. The first eligible promotion for each line item in the cart is applied to the line items and the first eligible promotion for the cart is applied on the entire cart.

Marketing managers use this to control spending and prioritize specific promotions.

A customer's cart is eligible for a 'Free Shipping on orders over $50' promotion (priority number: 1) and a '15% Off' promotion (priority number: 2). The first promotion is applied to customer cart.
Highest Discount

All promotions in a subgroup are evaluated independently for carts and cart line items. The highest discount promotion for each line item in the cart is applied to the line items and the highest discount promotion for the cart is applied on the entire cart.

Marketing managers can choose best promotion to maximize customer satisfaction and by guaranteeing shoppers automatically get the best possible deal.

A customer's cart is eligible for a '10% Off' promotion and a separate '15% Off' promotion. The promotion that offers 15% discount is applied.
