Add User-Created Attribute

Create attributes in Audience Builder to segment the messages that you send from Marketing Cloud Engagement. These attributes map information from Contact Builder.

1. Select Setup | Feature Settings | Audience Builder | Audience Builder Settings | Manage Attributes.
2. Choose the attributes from the list of available attributes in Contact Builder.
3. Choose whether to use raw data or display unique values.
4. To make the attributes available as personalization strings in your messaging activities, select Use as appendable attribute. You can choose this option only for attributes with a 1:1 relationship in Contact Builder.
5. Click Next.
6. Leave the default automation in place unless you need a different automation for your activities.
7. Enter the email addresses that receive a notification when the attribute deploys for the first time.
8. Click Next.
9. Review the summary of added attributes, their configuration, and the chosen automation.
10. Click Done.
