Contact Data in Marketing Cloud Engagement
Synchronized Object Relationship Priority

Synchronized Object Relationship Priority

Contact Builder supports a single relationship between objects in an attribute group. When you synchronize Marketing Cloud Engagement with object data from another cloud, Synchronized Data Sources creates that single relationship between attributes using a predetermined priority.

  • Predefined standard object relationships
  • Standard relationship fields, in alphabetical order
  • Custom relationship fields, in alphabetical order

Here are the predefined standard object relationships between the User object and other objects.

Other Cloud Object Object Field
Account OwnerId
Contact OwnerId
Lead OwnerId
Group OwnerId
NetworkMember MemberId

Typically, custom objects include three relationship ID fields related to User: OwnerId, CreatedById, ModifiedById. Based on the synchronization priority, custom objects relate to User through the CreatedById field.

A relationship to Contact, Lead, or User is required for all synchronized objects. The order in which you sync objects affects the relationship direction in Engagement. Sync User, Contact, Lead, and Account before syncing other objects.

Tip
Tip When you build a journey in Engagement, consider the synchronized object relationships to ensure that you include the appropriate Engagement contacts in the journey.
