Create and Send a Carousel Push Notification

Create and Send a Carousel Push Notification

Use the Carousel template to create a push notification that can have up to six images. This lets you show multiple images in one notification.

To send a Carousel notification to iOS devices, collaborate with your app developer to define the Advanced Template Category in the Administration tab. For Android, no category is required to send the Carousel notification.

          Note
Note Make sure your users are on SDK version 9.0 and later to receive carousel messages on iOS and Android devices.
          1. In Content Builder, click Create, hover Mobile App, and select Push Notification.
          2. Select Carousel layout, and then click Next.
          3. In the Carousel Configuration panel, enter the title and body of your message.
          4. Select an Open Behavior:
            Note
            Note

If you don’t provide a call to action (CTA), the SDK opens the app by default. If the CTA type is other than Open the App and the URL isn't specified or is invalid, SDK defaults to Open the App.

          5. In the Image Layout section, you can show or hide the image caption and sub-caption, and add them to the Carousel pages. You can also customize the image by selecting a background color for the Carousel pages.
          6. To set up a message sound on iOS devices, select an option from the dropdown menu in the iOS Configurations section.
          7. To set up your message for the Android devices, select an option from the dropdown menus in the Android Configurations section.
          8. In the Content tab, add an image to the selected Carousel page.
          9. Enter a unique name or ID for the image, or use the system-generated ID. This helps differentiate it from other images in your project and is useful for tracking and automation.
          10. Optionally, enter alternative text to display if the image from the URL doesn't load or is unavailable.
          11. Enter the image caption, image sub-caption, and select an Open Behavior. In the Open Behavior, if no action is provided, or the URL is invalid, the SDK opens the app.
          12. In the Design panel, adjust your image caption and sub-caption styles.
          13. For a subscriber-level preview of your message, click Subscriber Preview.
          14. Click Save.
This push message can now be pulled into a Journey Builder push notification activity. See Create the Push Notification Activity in Journey Builder.
