Create In-App Messages in Content Builder
Create in-app messages in Content Builder to target your engaged app audiences. Choose from full-page, modal, or banner-style templates in Content Builder, and send using the new In-App activity in Journey Builder.

- In Content Builder, click Create.
- In the dropdown, select Mobile App, and then select In-App Message and Select.

Choose Full-Page, Banner, or
Modal and click Select.
- If you select Full-Page, you have the additional option of Crop Image or Fill Image.
- To add an image to your message, insert a URL or click Browse to choose an image from the Content Builder library.
- Add a title and subtitle to your message, if applicable. Use the personalization and emoji dropdown as needed.

Enter the message.
Note To personalize the content of your message, click inside the Message field and select contact attributes from the personalization dropdown menu.
- Add buttons to your message and name your buttons.

Select a behavior for each button.
- Dismiss message—Closes the message.
- Go to web URL—Insert a URL in the field that goes to a web page.
- Open page in app—Insert a URL in the field that goes to a specific page in your app.
- Open device settings—Opens the user’s device settings.
- Open location settings—Opens the user’s location settings.

At the top of the screen, click the Design tab.
- For a full-page or modal layout, choose whether you want the message title to appear above or below the image.

The dismiss icon is enabled by default. To not include the icon, deselect this
option.
Note The dismiss icon can only be removed if you’ve added a dismiss button to your message. Full-page and modal messages must have a method for dismissal, Banner messages can be swiped away.
- For modal and banner layout, select the background opacity for your app.

Configure notification settings.
- For a banner layout, choose whether you want the banner to appear at the top or bottom of the device.
- For modal and banner layout, choose the border size. Choose the border color from the dropdown or enter a hex code.
- Choose the background color from the dropdown or enter a hex code.
- For modal and banner, choose the corner radius.
- Choose the notification opacity.

Configure the text settings.
- Choose the title font size. Choose the font color from the dropdown or enter a hex code.
- Choose the title alignment.
- Choose the message font size. Choose the font color from the dropdown or enter a hex code.
- Choose the message alignment.

Configure the image settings.
- For a full-page or modal layout, for the image size, select either Edge to Edge or Inset.
- Choose the border size. Choose the border color from the dropdown or enter a hex code.
- Choose the corner radius.

Configure the button settings for each button.
- For a full-page and modal, select Horizontal or Vertical orientation.
- Choose the font size. Choose the font color from the dropdown or enter a hex code.
- Choose the border size. Choose a border color from the dropdown or enter a hex code.
- Choose a button background color from the dropdown or enter a hex code. Choose a corner radius.
- Click Save.

Preview.
This message can now be pulled into an In-App Message activity.
