Live Image
The Content Builder Live Image block lets you control message content at the time of open by switching relevant images in real time. You can send an email with image A that changes to image B based on a user-defined trigger.
Important Content Builder Live Image is retired in the April 2021 release. Customers
can no longer access the block in Content Builder, but can use Einstein Content Selection or the
Content Block SDK.

Use Multiple Instances
- If you add multiple instances of the same Live Image block to different emails, they act and are tracked independently.
- If you copy an email with a Live Image block, the blocks act and are tracked independently.
Use Manual Switch
- The Manual Switch button only appears after you send the message containing the block. To manually switch the image, click Manual Switch on the Delivery tab of the block, then click Confirm.
- You can manually switch to image B regardless of the trigger, but only before the trigger threshold occurs. You can switch back to image A at any time. The image switches only for recipients who open the email after you made the switch.
Other Information
- You can use multiple Live Image blocks in an email.
- You can’t use Live Image blocks with Reference blocks.
- You can't send a Live Image block that is shared with you. Only the owner of the block and its images can send it.
