Update DNS File to Manage Replies
If you decided to self-host when you configured SAP, and haven't set up reply mail management, you can configure it at any time. Work with your IT or web admin to add the necessary MX record to your DNS zone file. If you chose to delegate your domain, the MX record is already in place.
One of the records that you add to the DNS console is based on your Engagement
instance. You can find your instance number in your browser URL. Log in to Engagement, and
look for the domain: mc.s##.exacttarget.com. The
s## number is your instance.
Contact Salesforce Customer Support for assistance.
-
In the DNS zone file, add the MX record with your preferred domain.
- To use a base domain, replace the default @ value with your domain name.
- To use a reply domain, append your domain name to reply, so that it appears in the format reply.sub.domainname.ext.
-
Then, add IN MX 10 and the correct value for your
instance.
For example, if you are on the S7 instance, enter inbound-reply.s7.exacttarget.com.
- inbound-reply.s1.exacttarget.com.
- inbound-reply.s4.exacttarget.com.
- inbound-reply.s6.exacttarget.com.
- inbound-reply.s7.exacttarget.com.
- reply.s10.exacttarget.com.
- reply.s11.exacttarget.com.
- reply.s12.exacttarget.com.
- reply.s13.exacttarget.com.
- reply.s50.exacttarget.com.
- reply.s51.exacttarget.com.
- In Engagement Setup, search and select Reply Mail Management.
- In the Reply Subdomain field, enter the domain or reply domain that you added to the DNS zone file.
- To confirm that you've completed the DNS work, select Yes, and then save your work.
