Create a Filtered List of Contacts

A filtered list contains contacts based on their demographic or interest data, such as ZIP code, income, products purchased, or birth date. In Marketing Cloud Engagement, use a filtered list to send SMS messages to a specific audience. You can also use a filtered list to create a suppression list to exclude a specific audience from SMS message sends.

1. To open Contacts within MobileConnect, click Manage.
2. Click Lists, and then click Create List.
3. Select the filtered list method.
4. Select the starting population. You can also select all contacts.
5. To add MobileConnect attributes, navigate to the MobileConnect Demographics Attributes folders.
6. Drag the MobileConnect attribute into the Filter.
7. Set the filter operator and value.
8. Repeat for any additional attributes to add to the filter.
9. To switch attributes within the filter, click the AND dropdown. AND means that contacts must meet all the conditions to be included in the filtered list. OR means that contacts must meet any one of the conditions.
10. Drag attributes to rearrange. To set up AND or OR values for those attributes within the larger AND or OR value, click the rectangles next to those attributes.
11. Save the filter.
12. Enter a name and select the format for the list.
13. Save the list.
