Create a Beacon Message
Complete these steps to create a message in MobilePush that users receive when they come near your beacon. Save your message at any point and return to it later. To use custom sounds, OpenDirect, or Custom Keys, enable them for your app before you create a message.

Define Content
- Enter the name of your message.
- Select the App that displays the message.
- Select the push method.
- Type and save your message.
- If you selected Alert + CloudPage as the push method, select the page to use.
- Select whether to play a sound when a push message arrives. If you enabled custom sounds for your app, you can select a custom sound.

Select whether to update the iOS Badge. Select
Yes to update the number of
unread messages the iOS icon displays for this app
when you conduct the send.
Note Enable your mobile app to use badge count correctly and use the correct API calls to increment and reset your badge count.Note Changing this switch to No doesn’t reset the badge count for users of your app.
- If you enabled OpenDirect for your app, type the URL that the screen displays when the user selects a message. Type the full URL, including applicable subdomains and https://.
- If you enabled Custom Keys for your app, enter the key values. To insert unique keys based on Contact attributes or campaigns, include an AMPscript value.
- Add a campaign association, if desired.
- Click Next.
Select Locations

Select the location of the beacon you want to add the
message to. If the beacon location doesn’t exist,
you can create a beacon location.
Note You can select multiple beacons for a single message. If you select multiple beacons, we recommend a 65-meter buffer zone between selected beacons to avoid sending multiple messages to a single mobile device. While multiple beacons can have different GUIDs, the app can only track and send messages from one GUID at a time.
- Click Next.
Review and Send
- Set the message activation date and time.
- Click Limit the total number of messages for mobile device to and enter the total number of times a mobile device can receive this message during the active period.
- To restrict the number of times a mobile device can receive this message in a specified time period, click Limit the frequency of messages for mobile devices to one message every… Enter a number and select the unit of time. Use this option when a mobile device enters the beacon’s range more than one time per day.

Click Activate.
Note It can take up to 2 minutes to activate or schedule the message.
